Dr. Laura Sleggs, ND

Welcome! I would like to introduce you to a new model of healthcare that will pave the way for a healthier and more fulfilling life. As a Naturopathic Doctor (ND) I treat each client as an individual. I take the time to listen to your concerns, research your case, and develop a unique treatment plan focused on your needs. My intention is to encourage empowerment in my clients, over their own health, and to become a partner in the healing process.

I completed four years of post-graduate medical school at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine after receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science at the University at Buffalo. I studied basic sciences comparable to that of a medical doctor’s training. Integrated with this education is the study of naturopathic therapies including Botanical Medicine, Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy, Physical Medicine, Lifestyle Counseling, Asian Medicine, Acupuncture, Naturopathic Manipulation and more.

Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct form of healthcare that addresses the root cause of illness and promotes health and healing by using natural therapies. It provides natural healthcare to all aspects of family health from prenatal to geriatrics. Natural therapies are used to facilitate the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. A ND seeks to find and treat the cause of the illness rather than the symptoms of an illness.

Conditions that do not respond well to conventional treatment often respond well to naturopathic treatment. Some examples of conditions that I support with naturopathic therapies include autism, ADHD, skin disorders, heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune diseases (MS, lupus), cancer support, allergies, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and digestive disorders.

I currently hold a Connecticut State Naturopathic Physician’s license. Please note that only licensure of an ND can guarantee they have been trained as a primary care Naturopathic Physician. This will ensure the safety to which consumers are entitled.

I reside in Ossian with my husband, Howard, and lovely daughter, Ayla. Howard shares the same passion for natural medicine and complements preventative health and healing with his work in the fields of personal training and physical therapy.
